Mrs. John H. Franken, 66, nee Emma LaGesse, Custerdale, died at the
Holy Family hospital late last evening.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Shimek and
Schwartz funeral home and at 9 a.m. at the St. Paul Catholic church,
the Rev. Martin Jaekels officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen
cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. The body will
lie in state at the funeral home from 7 p.m. Saturday until time of
services.
She was born at Pentwater, Mich., in 1878. Forty-eight years ago she
was married to John Franken and the couple settled in Two Rivers for
25 years. Twenty-five years ago, her husband died. She has made
Manitowoc her home for the past 20 years. She was a member of the Royal
Neighbors of Two Rivers.
She is survived by two sons, William of Milwaukee and Joseph of this
city; two brothers, Joseph LaGesse of Nome, North Dakota, and Frank
LaGesse of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Heald, of Grand Rapids,
Mich., Mrs. H.P. Hart of Muskegon, Mich., and Mrs. D.D. Usher, Stoughton,
Wis., eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
