We are pained to learn, that Rev. Mr. Degarmo, the
son-in-law of our respected banker, C.C.Barnes, died
of bleeding of the lungs on the 18th inst. at White
Mountain, near Denver, Colorado Ter., where he had
gone to recover his failing health. Mr. Barnes has
gone to Chicago to meet his sorrow stricken daughter
with the remains of her late husband, on whom she has
waited faithfully to the last, and who was a christian
gentleman with few equals and no superior.

Died - Near Denver City, Col., on the 18th inst. of
hemorrhage of the lungs, Henry Hobart Degarmo, late
of Manitowoc.
The above announcement will bring sorrow and regret
to many of the readers of the Pilot. The deceased was
a native of Louisville, Kentucky, and was educated at
Neshota, in this state, for the church. A short time
ago he was called to the rectorship of St. James'
Episcopal Church in our city, where he officiated for
a few Sabbaths, but left soon in quest of health in
Colorado. He was a man of fine scholarly attainments;
of modest, unassuming, cultivated, gentlemanly address;
a gentleman in word and deed, and a fine type of a
Christian without cant or affectation. He was a
son-in-law of our respected fellow citizen, Dr. Barnes,
of the First National Bank to whom, with his family,
this blow comes with heavy hand.
The warmest sympathies of a large circle of friends are
with the sorrowing widow and family of the deceased in
this hour of deep affiction to them. The deceased was
about thirty years pf ahe and had a flattering prospect
of a life of eminent usefullness and honor before him,
which has, suddenly been cut short by the cold hand of
inexorable death.
