Funeral services for Mr. Gary Lee Ashmore, 78, of Henderson, will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Henderson with Reverends Lynn Loe and Dwain Knight officiating. Masonic committal service will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Crawford - A. Crim Funeral Home of Henderson.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m., Monday, August 6 at the funeral home.

Mr. Ashmore passed away August 5, 2012 in Tyler. He was born Feb. 26, 1934 in Hillsboro, Ill., and had lived in Henderson since 1960. Gary served for 28 years as a member of the Henderson Volunteer Fire Department and also as Assistant Chief. He retired from Henderson Clay Products where he had worked as a shop foreman. He was a member of the following organizations: Clinton Lodge #23, A.F. Accepted Mason 32nd Degree at Valley of Waco; Sharon Shrine Temple in Tyler; Rusk County Hot Rodders; and East Texas Rifle and Pistol Club of Longview, serving as a past president of the club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bertha Ashmore; brother, Michael Ashmore; brother-in-law, William Dowell; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Ashmore.

Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Kathleen Ashmore of Henderson; children, Sherrie Hash and husband Billy of Seven Points, Tx, Pam Lee and husband Steve of Tyler, Tim Ashmore and wife Mona, Charles Ashmore, and Marian Taylor and husband Johnny, all of Henderson; sisters, Janice Dowell, Nancy Knecht and husband Bill, and Carla Ashmore, all of Illinois; grandchildren, Matt Bates and wife Tracy, Mike Bates and wife Lori, Sabrina Hull, Lesleigh Hash, Cord Lee and wife Kristy, Clint Lee and wife Amanda, Casey Ashmore and wife Courtney, Cassitty Ashmore, Kyle Brady, Craig Ashmore, Cullen Ashmore, Cori Ashmore, Jessica Martin and husband Brad, and Ethan Taylor; great-grandchildren, Caitlynne Ashmore, Claire Ashmore, Coleman Ashmore, Sonora Martin, Grady Martin, Tori Lee, Karis Lee, Brianna Hull, Katrina Hull, Jacob Hash, Jason Briones, Michael Briones, Ridleigh Bates, and Camdyn Bates; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are his grandsons, Cord Lee, Matthew Bates, Michael Bates, Casey Ashmore, Clint Lee, Craig Ashmore, Cullen Ashmore, and Ethan Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are the Henderson Fire Department, Loring Minter, Chris Roberts, John Paul Nye, and Noah Johnson.
