On an evening known for visions of sugar plums dancing through heads, John Curran lay down his head and went to sleep, forever. He was one of Roseville's oldest railroad employees, at the age 67, and was known warmly as "Uncle Johnnie". He was a native of Ontario, Canada, coming west to California at the age of 24. He married Mary Rogers, and was one of the first railroad employees to transfer from Rocklin to Roseville before the round house was built. He was the son of Canadian pioneers, and one of 11 siblings. He was proud of a medal of merit he had been awarded for his outstanding service with the railroad. Goodnight, Uncle Johnnie, rest in heavenly peace.
