Shirley was born and raised in Northwest Georgia. Her parents were, Vernon and Alta May Daniel of Kensington, GA. Shirley attended and graduated from Chattanooga Valley High School in 1963. When Shirley was 19 she married and moved to Sale Creek, Tennessee and started her family. She had 2 boys and 1 girl. When her daughter was born, Shirley was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and she died 5 months later at the age of 26. She left behind a husband, Gerald Sr. and 3 children, Gerald Jr., Darren and Kristy.
