Renée Marie Ostlund, 57, of Lander, Wyoming died August 2, 2012, of a self inflicted gun shot wound.

Memorial services have been set for Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 11:00am at the Lander High School. Reception will be held immediately following services at City Park. Everyone is welcome.

Renée Marie Ostlund (Sehn) was born on April 16, 1955 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Leo Sehn and Valeria Sehn (Wagner). She grew up on the family farm in Linton, North Dakota where she graduated in 1973 from Emmons Central High School in Strausburg, North Dakota. Her 4-H project was raising a Grand Champion Heifer.

She went on to earn her B.S. from Mary College, Bismarck, North Dakota in May 1977.

She had the honor of serving as Homecoming Queen in college after warming up in her high school homecoming court.

She was extremely active in the Spurs Service Organization during college where she began her legacy of lifelong service to others.

She then moved to Ashton, Idaho and lived there until moving to Lander, Wyoming in 1979. She worked as a medical technologist and provided our community with excellent care at the Lander Valley Hospital for over 30 years. She had a passion for going the extra mile, befriending patients to guide through the hospital process and set their mind at ease.

David and Renée Ostlund were married on May 25, 1985 in Lander, Wyoming.

She loved motorcycling; riding and packing in on horses; fly fishing; bow hunting and gardening. And did I mention motorcycling? Which reminds me that when her fellow co-workers considered a contest for the most days of commuting by motorcycle, they decided they would only be donating the prize to Renée.

She was also an active member of Wind River Back County Horseman.

Her favorite quotes were:

" Ain't nothin' better than ridin' a fine horse in new country." – Augustus McCrae

" Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." – Helen Keller

She is survived by her husband David Ostlund of Lander, Wyoming; her parents Leo and Valeria Sehn of Linton, North Dakota; her 5 brothers, Marvin Sehn of Lynchburg, Virginia; Kevin Sehn of Bismark, North Dakota; Allen Sehn of Anapolis, Maryland; Jeff Sehn of Denver, Colorado; Darrel Sehn of Linton, North Dakota and their families.

Memorials may be made in honor of Renée Ostlund to further awareness of major depression in care of the Lander Community Foundation P.O. Box 1131 Lander, WY 82520.
