Rosella "Rosie" Mae Aliff Powers, 77, of Hobart, IN passed away on Tuesday, August 16,2005, in Oak Hill, West Virginia, while visiting family.

Rosie was born on August 17, 1927 in Kingston, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Clayton and Maggie (Payne) Aliff.

She was married on November 11, 1947 to William H. Powers and they celebrated 52 years of marriage. Rosie was a homemaker and substitute teacher in the River Forest School System. She was an active member of the Faith Assembly of God Church, involved with Sunday school and women's ministries. She loved her family and her church.

Rosie is survived by her loving family; son Tim (Esther) Powers of Portage, IN; daughters Trudy Priest of Hobart, IN, Melody (Kevin) Ayres of Hobart, IN; grandchildren; Eric (Jen) Powers, Amy (Tim) Taylor, Amber (Andrew) Piesyk, Jill (Tim) Miller, April James, Aaron Priest, Ashley (John Clark) Ayres, great-grandchildren; Hayley and Andrew Piesyk, Austyn and McKenna James, Ethan and Lucas Miller, Kylee Ayres, Lauren Powers; brother J.P. (June) Aliff of Oak Hill, WV, sisters-in-law Helen Spencer of Kingston, WV and Martha Aliff of Oak Hill, WV, dear friends Myrtle Cunningham of DeMotte, IN and Norma Tichnor of Mossy, WV, and other loving family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband William Powers on March 11, 2000, brothers Bobby and Billy Aliff, and sister Agnes Rinehart.

Visitation for Rosella Powers will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Engel Funeral Home, 2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 22, 2005 at Faith Assembly of God Church, 4410 Central Avenue, Lake Station, with Reverend Michael J. Smith, officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
