Vernon Burton, 68, Palmyra, IN, formerly of Adair County, KY, passed away Friday, January 18, 2008, at 9:06pmCT, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY, after several weeks illness.
The funeral service will be Monday, January 21, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Bill Warren the officiating clergy.
He was born April 17, 1939, the son of the late William Silas and Anna Lou Burdine Burton of Adair County. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Warren Burton, Knifley, KY, and the following: One son: Kevin Burton, Corydon, IN
Three daughters: Peggy Clark, Leopold, IN: Rhonda Snider, Pekin, IN; and Dee Dee Kessinger, Corydon, IN
One sister: Goldie Jones, Knifley, KY
Eleven grandchildren: Ryan Burton, Chase Burton, Jordyn Clark, Logan Clark, Jason Wilhite, Dakota Snider, Hannah Snider, Hunter Snider, Makenzie Kessinger, Bronson Kessinger, Brody Kessinger
Three sisters: Eula Warren, Beulah Warren, Etta Overstreet
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Burton and Hollis Burton.
Mr. Burton was employed by the Pillsbury Company in New Albany, IN, for 35 years.
Interment will be in Bearwallow Cemetery.
