She was a native of Cleveland County and daughter of the late Ambrose and Pearl Fraley Royster. She was a retired sales person with Singer Sewing Machine and was a member of Spencer Mountain Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde H. May Sr; sons, Clyde H. May Jr. of Drummonds, Tenn., Robert N., Richard R., Damuel R. and G. Eric May of Gastonia; a sister, Elizabeth Dover of Kings Mountain; and seven grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Arson Dixon at 2 p.m. Friday at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. May's sons and grandsons.
Ward Funeral Home, Gastonia, is in charge of arrangements.
