Mishaps have plagued this area the last few days. Friday night after 10 p.m. Millard F. Workman, 30 year old Sparta man, was walking along Highway 65 near James River when he was struck by a car driven by a St. Joseph man. Known to most as "Muff". Workman lived at Sparta most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Jean; a son, Mike of Ozark; three daughters, Bobbie of Ozark and Nadra and Billie, both of Kansas City; his mother, Mrs. Nadine Workman, Sparta; a half-brother, John Wade of Ozark; two brothers, Mickey of Ozark and Jim of Chadwick; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Nancy Roller, Sparta and Mrs. Peggy Webb, Grandview, Wash.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Harris Chapel, Ozark with the Rev. James Applegate officiating. Burial was in Sparta Cemetery.
