Roman Catholic Saint. The son of Saints Orentius and Patientia, a noble couple from Huesca, Spain, and twin brother of Saint Lawrence of Rome, who suffered martyrdom in the year 258, Orentius sold all he had and giving the money to the poor, became successively, a hermit in the valley of Lavedan. Later appointed Bishop of Auch, France, he was engaged in peacekeeping efforts, being sent as an envoy to the Roman General Aetius by the Ostrogoth leader Theodoric. His liturgical feast day is held together with that of his parents on May 1. History has it that his remains were transferred from Auch to his native Huesca in 1609.
