John W. Clayton died Tuesday morning, March 16, 1915, in his home in Lawrenceburg. He had been lingering for a long time with tuberculosis. Mr. Clayton was born in Giles County, April 29, 1873; the son of Rev. William and Mrs. Sarah Clayton, deceased. His father and two brothers, J. R. of Baxter, and C. W. of Dowelltown were Methodist Ministers.
His widow was before marriage Miss Lyda Gobell of Wayne County. They have four children; Mabel, Willie, Pearl and Gracie. He joined the M. E. Church at New Prospect, and the Masonic Lodge at Pleasant Point. He said he was ready to go.
The funeral services were held in the Mt. Lebanon church by Rev. E. M. Nunally and he was buried in the cemetery there March 17.
