Mother of Walter Collins famous disapearance victim in Wineville/Mira Loma in 1928. When Christine went to the police for help finding her son, she ended up at the Los Angeles Hospital for the Insane. Much has been written on the story in the newspaper, a T.V. program (Dragnet) and a movie (Changling) has been made. It is truly a sad story no matter how it is depicted. The truth is a child is presumed dead, mother is in a hospital, and she gets help from a local famous minister that was already trying to expose the coruption of the police. The son never returns. These are the facts.

Her sister tried to help, Aimee Grace Dunne(1893-1951). Her parents, Francis W. and Clara E.(Horne) Dunne, are already dead. Her husband is at Folsom Prison doing 40 years on a third strike. There are numerous letters from her to the warden trying to get him out. He is buried at Folsom Prison Cemetery. She lives alone the rest of her life.
In the movie she was depicted as a single woman. She really did work for the telephone company.

She really did talk to Gordon Stewart Northcott at his request the night before Gordon's hanging to get the truth about her son's death. After inviting her, he changed his mind and would not confirm or deny any death. He claimed he was innocent after confessing on 3 other occasions.

Found some information at Los Angeles Times newspaper, San Bernardino Sun, and Riverside Press. The case made headlines for some time. The Los Angeles Times mentions a brother but could find no record of a brother in census.

Found picture in San Bernardino Sun Newspaper local newspaper for Mira Loma/Grapeland.
