Jonathan "Jon" Ohrtman, age 24, of Newell, Iowa died August 7, 2012 in rural Newell.

Jonathan David was born October 6, 1987 at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, Iowa, the son of David Ohrtman and Kimberly (Killeen) Anderson. As an infant, he was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Fonda.

Growing up, he attended Newell – Fonda High School where he graduated with the class of 2006. Following high school graduation, Jon attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa where he received his Nursing Degree in 2011. He currently worked as a Registered Nurse at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Family and friends were very important to Jon and he enjoyed spending time with them. Jon was an avid sports fan and over the years, he especially loved watching Iowa Hawkeye Football. He enjoyed doing home building projects. Additionally, Jon had a special gift for drawing and art work. He was currently getting into shape by lifting weights, running in relays and his last adventure was the Warrior Dash. His smile was contagious and he was always there to lend a helping hand. He will be forever remembered as a fun-loving friend to many and a loving and devoted son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin to his family.

Those left to cherish Jon's memory include his father, David Ohrtman of Newell, Iowa; his mother, Kimberly (Bob) Anderson of Salem, Iowa; sister, Ashley Ohrtman of New London, Iowa; niece, Adrianna Ohrtman of New London, Iowa; grandparents, Richard and Linda Killeen of Sac City; aunt, Lisa Killeen of Sac City; uncle and aunt, Ed and Sheryl Ohrtman of Fonda; cousins: Carl Ohrtman of Fonda; Rachel Mohwinkel and family of Newell; and extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Helen Ohrtman; great grandparents: Eldore and Dorothy Killeen and William and Nina Johnson.
