PROMINENT WOMAN DEAD
MRS. JOSEPHINE W. HILLMAN PASSED AWAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS
    ---------------------------
Mrs. Josephine Wright Hillman, widow of Arthur W. Hillman, an honored and esteemed resident, died at her home, 132 South Franklin street, at 8 o'clock yesterday morning of a complication of diseases, after an illness of six months, aged 65 years. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. George W. Guthrie; three sons and two daughters, Ralph R. Hillman of Buffalo, N. Y., Attorney Arthur Hillman of this city, E. D. Hillman of Mt. Vernon, N. Y., Mrs. Shepard Ayars and Miss Emily Hillman of this city.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon with services at the house at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. Dr. Fullerton. Interment will be private and will be made in Hollenback Cemetery.
Mrs. Hillman was a descendant of pioneer families in this valley. She was a daughter of the late Harrison Wright and Emily Cist. The Wright family came from England to America with the Penn colony of immigrant Quakers in 1681 and settled in New Jersey. Joseph Wright, a descendant of the family, settled in this valley in 1795 and was a grandfather of the deceased. Her mother was Emily Cist, a descendant of Charles Cist who came to America in 1773. Both families were active in the early development of this valley and prominent in its social and political life.
The deceased was of a retired disposition, kind and charitable, and took a deep interest in several of the city's charitable institutions. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church. Her death will be mourned by many who partook of her charity and sympathy. Her friends and associates suffer in her demise the loss of a kind and gentle friend.
