John was the s/o John Shearer Bush, Sr. and Margaret Gardner. According to the "Wither's Mill" book by J. and Roberta Hagood, John Bush, Jr. attended Clear Creek School in Miller Township. He was one of the first purils. School teacher was Major Samuel Absolam Hendren from Virginia. The stone school house was 18'x24', built in 1837. He was first married to Martha Ann Whaley and they had two childen: [1]Mary Alice Bush and [2]Laura Lamb Bush. He married second, Fannie M. Smarr, January 21, 1864 in Ralls Co., Mo. by S. D. Wilkes. As far as I have been able to determine, they had no children. Their residence was on Maple Street in Hannibal according to the 1880 Census. He died of paralysis.
