Literary Figure. She was courted in her youth by author and playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who wrote her poems and letters expressing his love and affection. However, she would eventually marry another man. Geothe's love poems to her were later published as Annettenlieder (songs to Annette)", and he wrote the play "Die Laune des Verliebten (The Lover’s Caprice)" in 1768 about the affair.
