"George Robert "Bubba" Chapman of Lockhart, Texas, passed away on August 9, 2012, at the age of 89. He was born on February 1, 1923, in Lockhart, Texas, to George Henry and Jennie Mae Baker Chapman. Bubba attended Texas A&M University until he joined the Navy in 1942, serving on the Battleship New Jersey. After his military discharge in 1946, he and Barbara Hoffman were married and resided in Lockhart. Bubba loved people and enjoyed his associations with them in his real estate and ranching businesses. Coastal planting, oil and gas ventures, insurance sales, and "swapping and trading" of all kinds kept him busy. He and wife Barbara loved travelling and spending time with family and friends. Golfing, bowling, hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. In later years, gardening and shelling pecans kept him active."
