The obsequies of Mrs. Mattie W. Chiles, wife of Dr. L.R. Chiles, who passed away at the family residence on North Park avenue, were held from the Park Avenue Baptist Church at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon the the presence of a large congregation. The services were conducted by Rev. Dr. J.J. Hall, assisted by by Rev. Dr. A.E. Owen of Grace Baptist Church and Rev. E. B. Hatcher of the First Baptist Church. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery. The pall-bearers were nephews of the decesed as follows: J.M. Snellings, Herbert Snellings, Walter Reams, J.C. Snellings, H. Morrisett, J.N. Snellings.

MRS. CHILES DEAD.
Mr. J. C. Snellings received a telegram last evening announcing the death of Mrs. L. R. Chiles, which occurred about 7 o'clock at her home in Norfolk. Mrs. Chiles was well known here, being a Miss Walker, of Chesterfield county, and after her marriage to Dr. Chiles making her home in Manchester for a number of years. She was about fifty-five years of age, and had been ill for quite some time. Mrs. Chiles is survived by her husband and one son, Dr. Leo E. Chiles, of Norfolk.
