MATRIMONIAL MATTERS
McKinney - Baughman - Last evening at 5:45 in the brilliantly lighted and beautifully decorated Christian church, Mr. Walker Burton McKinney and Miss Nancy Chenault Baughman were joined in the holy bonds of wedlock by a beautiful ceremony said by Rev. J. T. Sharard.
The ushers, Messrs. J. W. Rout, Jr., Harry Baughman, Greenberry Bright and J. C. Bailey, passed up the outer aisles and stood at the altar as posts for the ladies to stand between. The first couple of attendants, Miss Annie Alcorn and R. G. Denny, went up the main aisle and crossing at the altar under the heart, stood on opposite sides. The others, Miss Deira Baughman and P. M. McRoberts, Miss Ella Tinsley and George B. Dunn, and Miss Effie Burnett and Dr. A. S. Price, followed and went through the same maneuvres at the altar. The minister followed the last couple and preceded the contracting parties. Arriving at the altar, the couple stood three-fourths facing the audience and amid soft and sweet strains of music the words were said that bound two loving hearts in closest union.
After the ceremony, the bridal party were driven to the residence of Mrs. Bettie McKinney, the mother of the groom, where a reception was given them and where many pleasant hours were spent in discussing matters and things in general and a most delightful supper, which Mrs. McK. knows so well how to prepare and serve. Mr. and Mrs. McKinney will live with her for the present, where they will be "at home" to their friends.
The bride, who is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Baughman, is a most charming young woman and is possessed of every trait of character, which makes her sex the idol of the lords of creation. Tall and queenly of figure, handsome of face and amiable of nature, she is indeed a jewell and will prove more precious than rubies to the fortunate man whose destiny is now linked with hers. He has indeed chosen wisely and proved that he is a man of unusual decernment in matrimonial as well as business matters. For a number of years he has been engaged in the grocery and hardware trade and is at present the junior member of the prosperous firm of Higgins and McKinney. Of good habits, good address and sterling integrity, he is a young man to whom any girl could safely trust herself. He has wooed long and faithfully and having won the prize, may Heaven's richest blessings ever be showered on him and his.
