Brigadier General South Carolina Militia. Born in in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a public Surveyor, for all the territory from Camden County to Laurens County. During the War of American Independence, he served in the Continental Army under General George Wahsington as a Major of Commissary and he would convoy the supplies he had collected to transport for use by the Army. After the war, he was elected the first Brigadier General in command of the 8th Brigade South Carolina Militia. He also served in the South Carolina House of Representatives and South Carolina State Senate. He died at age 76 on his estate in Windsor Forest, Fairfield District, South Carolina.
