Sam began his working career as a child, helping his father out with the family fruit stand, "Banana Curve", in Waverly. His faithful horse companion, "Chesty", chauffeured the youngster through town delivering fruit.
Sam retired after 42 years from the Elmira Water Board. Perhaps the highlight of his career occurred in the aftermath of Hurricane Agnes in June of 1972, when some 22 inches of rain caused devastating flooding in the Elmira/Corning region of New York. Sam used a rowboat to rescue 7 people stranded on a roof.
Besides his parents Sam is predeceased by wife of 58 years Fannie Sedinger Aloi; sons, James Aloi, infant son Edward and Sam "Skip" Aloi; granddaughter, Kim Aloi; four brothers, Steven, Peter, Anthony and Francis; two sisters, Antoinette and Marie and step-sister, Violet.
