According to family tradition twins Mary and Marie Greene came from Vermont to Liverpool township with their parents David and Sarah Willard Greene. They met the Heath brothers, Albert Gallatin Heath born in Tyringham, Massachusetts in 1816 and his brother William H. Heath born also born there. They were the sons of Edward and Rebecca Rowell Heath. The story goes that they were married in a double wedding on March 4, 1846 by Robert Carr, J.P. However the recorded records for Lorain County have the date of William's marriage to Mary as 14 February 1847. There is an earlier marriage record for William Heath in the Medina County records on 28 October 1838 to Betsey Russell. She may have died before the second marriage takes place. The brothers and their wives lived close to each other, but there was a county line between them. Albert lived in Liverpool Tswp., Medina County and William lived in Columbia Station, Lorain County.
