Lorain-Karen Kenska Leopold, age 43 years and a resident of Lorain, died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
Karen was born in Oberlin, March 25, 1968 to William G. Kenska and Joann K. (nee Barck) Leopold.
She was a 1986 graduate of Vermilion High School and attended the Ohio State University School of Cosmetology. Following school, Karen resided in Vermilion and was employed at Ponderosa, Fishers Big Wheel, and Dollar Bank, all in Vermilion. She then went on to work at Head Quarters, Lorain and The Strand in Amherst. She volunteered at Shupe School, and coached softball for the Lorain Youth and Adult Softball League. Karen attended Faith Fellowship Church, Amherst.
Survivors include her husband of 10 years Michael D. and their daughter, Allison, at home; her parents Joann (David) Leopold of Amherst and William G. (Dorothy) Kenska of Lorain; a sister Kristy (Adam) Csongedi of Vermilion; two nephews Jason and Jeremy Csongedi; two great nieces Jayden and Lilly Csongedi; aunts and uncles; Mary Ann and Donald Fugitt of Lorain, Fred and Ruby Barck of vermilion, and Nancy and Rev. James Greenawalt of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Maryette and Albert Barck, paternal grandparents Bernice and George Kenska, and her great nephew Leland Csondegi.
Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst, Friday 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with her uncle Rev. James Greenawalt, officiating.
Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Amherst.
In Karen's memory, an education fund has been established for Allison at any branch of Fifth Third Bank.
Karen will be greatly loved and missed by her family and all of her friends.
