Jean Louise Donnelly
Jean Louise Donnelly (nee Gordon), 75, of Amherst died Tuesday at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain after a long illness.
Mrs. Donnelly was a lifetime resident of Amherst and graduated from Amherst High School in 1944.
She worked for the city of Amherst as a secretary in the tax office before retiring in 1992 after 21 years of service. Previously, she had worked for five years for the former Lorain County Bank, now FirstMerit Bank. She had also volunteered many hours to the Fire Department and to the Utilities Department as a dispatcher during storm and power outages.
She enjoyed raising exotic birds, knitting, crocheting and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 5 years; a son, Tim of Amherst; a daughter, Jane Prieto of Amherst; four grandsons; a brother, George Gordon of Amherst; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Donnelly was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna (nee Albrecht) Gordon.
Graveside services were held this morning at Crownhill Cemetery in Amherst.
Memorials may be made to New Life Hospice of St Joseph, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria 44035.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hempel Funeral Home in Amherst.
