Obituary of Shelley Pylate Carter
(March 2, 1969 - August 9, 2012)

Biloxi, MS ~ Shelley Pylate Carter, age 43, of Biloxi, MS, went to heaven on August 9, 2012 at her home surrounded by her love ones following a seven year battle with breast cancer.

Shelley was born on March 2, 1969 in Biloxi, MS. She graduated from St. Martin High School in 1987, where she was a cheerleader and played softball. She was chosen to represent her school for the All Star Softball Senior Classic on the Southern Region Team. She graduated from the American Beauty College and received a Bachelor's degree from USM, majoring in mathematics. She previously worked for the Jackson County School System, Treasure Bay Casino, and was currently employed as the purchasing manager at the Island View Casino. Shelley served as President of the North Woolmarket Elementary PTSA for five years.

Shelley was creatively inclined, loved scrapbooking and entertaining. She was a true inspiration, and the most courageous fighter, even in her final moments. Throughout her short years with us, she inspired and touched everyone she met. Shelley was beautiful inside and out. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Not a moment passed where there was not a smile on her face. She showed us all how to love, how to be compassionate and how we all should live our lives.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Jerry Lawrence; and her grandparents, William S. and Emma Pylate.

Shelley's memories will be cherished by her loving husband, Jimmy Carter, Sr.; her most prized possession and beautiful daughter, Cali Renee Carter; her wonderful parents, Ronald and Mary Pylate; her sister and best friend, Sonya Pylate; her biggest fan and nephew, Chaz Green; devoted grandmother, Catherine Lawrence; step-son, Jimmy Carter, Jr.; step-daughters, Jennifer Krajicek, Jacquelynn Curry; five step-grandsons; three step-granddaughters, three great step-grandsons; Naomi "Desiree" Sherman, Karlee Conway, Aeryn Sherman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. all at The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to her beloved family, her friends, SMHS class of 1987, and for the compassionate and professional care offered by Dr. Clarkson, the staff at the Regional Cancer Center, Ocean Springs Hospital and Singing River Hospital, Kare-In-Home and the Hospice of Light.
