Charles P. Bowman, aged 70, retired painter and a life-long resident of Harrisonburg, died at six o'clock yesterday morning at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Bowman was taken to the hospital a week ago following a second stroke of paralysis. He had been in feeble health for the past year. He was paralyzed 16 years ago and since had lived a retired life.
Mr. Bowman was widely known among the residents of Harrisonburg and community.
He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church.
He was a son of the late Robert and Susan Bowman.
Funeral services will be held from the residence at Stone Spring this afternoon at 3:30, his pastor, Dr. Ben P. Wilson, officiating. Interment will be in Woodbine.
Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Brenton, of near Washington; one brother, James Bowman, of Charlottesville; and two sisters, Mrs. William Funkhouser, of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. Catherine Billhimer, of Washington
