Joyce Faye Wier passed peacefully at age 86 at her daughter's home on Aug. 6, 2012, after battling cancer.

She was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee, where she worked for 31 years as a postal clerk at the Barling office. She received a Special Achievement Award from the Postal Service as well as a 30-year award for excellent public service with the Postal Service and was a lifetime member of N.A.R.F.E.

Faye, and her twin brother, Ray Ussery, were born in Missouri on July 5, 1926, to the late Peter M. and Hattie (Tankersley) Ussery.

She was a native of Fort Smith, where she graduated from Northside High School in 1945. She married her husband of 55 years, Wayne N. Wier on Oct. 2, 1948, and had a daughter, Joyce Dean.

She was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Joy D. Wier of Roland; a sister, Alline Greenfield of Norwood, Mo.; and her twin brother, Lewis Ray Ussery of Fort Smith; many nieces, nephews and dear friends; her caretakers and close friends, Carol Jetton of Lavaca, Betty Wier Lee of Benton and Patti Rogers of Greenbrier, as well as her Hospice Home Care family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne N. Wier; three sisters, Mozelle Cooper of Magnolia, Pauline Brock of Greenwood and Una Sue (Bootsie) Pannell of Eros; and a brother, Vern Ussery of Fort Smith.

Faye left behind a host of family and friends whose love and devotion she cherished. Her acts of kindness and generosity, along with her sweet smile, touched the lives of many who knew her.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Steep Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Friday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. Viewing will start at 8 a.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Hogan A. Cooper of Tupelo, Miss., mom's oldest nephew; nephew Thomas Ray Ussery of Barling; nephew Michael Brock of Greenwood; nephew Allen Greenfield of Mountain Grove, Mo.; Noah Miraglia of Jacksonville of Crete-Crafters, who was like a son; and Bobby Henrichs of Jacksonville of Crete-Crafters, a foreman and dear friend to mom.

Honorary pallbearers will be William "Bill" McMahan of Barling, Jerry Barling of Barling, W.L. Wink Knowles, Delmar Bullington and Charlie Fox of Barling.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
