Wilbur Paulk, 61, 3605 N. Linden St., died Wednesday in Ball Hospital after an extended illness.

Mr. Paulk was born in Ocello, Ga., graduated from Irwin County High School, and spent the early years of his life there.

During World War II, he served in the Army in Europe and was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart and American Defense Service Medal.

After discharge from service, Mr. Paulk came to Indiana. From 1969, until retiring two years ago, he was employed by Norfolk & Western Railway where he was assistant road master for the Muncie office.

He is survived by his wife, Winnie; three stepsons, Kenneth Eldridge, R.R.1, Albany, David Eldridge, Portland, and James Eldridge, Gaston; a stepdaughter, Reba Hartley, Albany; two brothers, Gerald and George Paulk, both of Georgia; four sisters, Nassie (Mrs. R.B.) Ashley and Maggie (Mrs. James) Clements, both of Savanah, Ga., Billie (Mrs. B.J.) Daniels, Sylvester, Ga., and Elouise (Mrs. Clair) Palmer, Ashburn, Ga.; 13 stepgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Meeks Mortuary with Rev. Hershell Burris officiating. Interment will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours at the mortuary are 2-4 adn 7-9 p.m. today.
