She was the third child of Anita and Giuseppe Garibaldi. She was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and spent her first years in the jungles with her parents who were "Freedom Fighter". After her father returned to Italy, the family's life improved. Then her mother died and her father went into exile again. She went first to live with her father's mother Rosa in Nice. After her grandmother died, she lived with Joseph Deidery and his wife as her father was in exile for 8 years after her mother's death. She was very close to this family and since she was too young to remember her own mother, called Mrs. Deidery "mother".
She married Stefano Canzio on May 25, 1861. They were not wealthy and had a difficult life with 16 children, of which 4 died early.
According to sources, she is the only child of Anita's to be buried at Caprera.
