On Friday, August 3, 2012 Virginia Loyce Barfield, aged 86 of Panama City, Florida, found peaceful rest after having endured a long bout with chronic illness. Virginia was born June 9, 1926 in Georgia. She married her sweetheart, Henry G. Barfield on August 19, 1950 in Dothan, Alabama and settled in Panama City, Florida. They were married fifty-four years and Henry preceded her in death in the year 2004. Virginia is survived by two daughters, Beverly Fouse, married to Charlie Fouse and mother to Jody Fouse, and Lisa Parris, married to Gene Parris and mother to Kendall Parris. Virginia is also survived by three siblings, Emmett McCalvin, Betty Sheffield, and Judy Tillery and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Though her primary occupation was as a wife and mother, she spent many years working as a clerk at Sears Roebuck and Leon's Women's Apparel. She also was active in the sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. Virginia also loved to join her husband on his regular fishing trips, and was an avid gardener. She will be missed by her family and friends. Family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home on August 9, from 5-7 p.m., and funeral services will be held in the same location on Friday August 10, 2012 at 2 p.m. Following the funeral service at Wilson Funeral Home, Virginia will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
