B. C. Death Registration #1911-09-234373, microfilm B13114, name listed as Samuel Augustus Rogers, date of death June 4, 1911, Barkerville District, age 71. From the Barkerville History booklet say: Samuel was born in Northern Ireland and came to Canada with his parents to settle in Ontario in 1844. He was educated in the county of Prince Edward. He was a member of one of the famed Overland Parties of 1862, and was sheriff of the Cariboo-Lillooet district for 4 years and also Director of the Royal Cariboo Hospital. Elected to the Legislative Assembly of BC., as a Conservative in 1890, was returned at the general election in 1900, to be defeated again in 1903.Sam was a general merchant whose store was the former Hudson's Bay Co., establishment in Barkerville. 1901 & 1911 Census says he was Single.
