Franklin Cole Allen was born on January 18, 1869 in Logansport, Indiana to William and Martha Allen. His father worked as a farmer in Union, Indiana. Franklin had seven siblings: Lydia, Sarah, Thomas, Albert, Joseph, and Samantha. He married Locia Olive Marshall on March 20, 1890. They had three children in the next five years; Martha Myrtle, Laura Ethel, and Iva Marie. Their youngest son Clifford Harold was born in 1907. He lived in Richmond, Indiana in 1893 where he worked as a teamster, and he was a farmer when he moved to Franklin Township from 1910—1930. Locia died in 1933 in Richmond. By 1940 Franklin was living in Richmond with his son Clifford, his wife Leona, and their children. Franklin died at age 83 on October 31, 1952.
