Lelia Wilson, 89, of Columbus Junction, died Monday, July 20, 2009 at Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit in Iowa City.

Funeral services for Lelia will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. The Rev. Ronald Goode of the Sharon Congregation of the Reformed Presbyterian Church will officiate. Casket bearers will be Gary Todd, Tom Wasson, Willard Howell, Joe Howell, Doug Wilson and Ron Cutkomp. Honorary casket bearers will be Burdette Boulton, Don Wilson and George Masson. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. Following the interment, there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial has been established for the Reformed Presbyterian Church, 500 S. Avenue D, Washington, IA 52353 or Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit in Iowa City in Lelia’s name. Lelia Florence Hanft was born June 16, 1920 in Columbus City, Iowa, the daughter of Hilton S. and Jennie E. (Boulton) Hanft. On December 3, 1940 Lelia was united in marriage to Ralph S. Wilson in Columbus City, Iowa. Lelia was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Women’s Missionary group. She was a past Sunday School teacher, helping with many other church activities including church camp. Lelia was a member of the Shellbark Club and was active in the Peoples Partners of Community Bank. Lelia was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Hawkeye fan. She had recently attended her 1938 High School Class Reunion. Her class had donated the victory bell at the Columbus Community School.

Lelia will be dearly missed by sons, Dave Wilson and his wife, Ruth, of Iowa City and Dan Wilson and his wife, Mary, of Columbus Junction; and four grandchildren: Andrea Wilson of Toronto, Canada; Emily Wilson of Columbus Junction; Becky Bearbower and her husband, Mike, of Waterloo; and Stephen Wilson and his wife, Stephanie, of Solon, Iowa.

Lelia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph on November 1, 1976; one granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Wilson; one sister, Corriene Hanft; and one brother, Lester Hanft.
