LAOTTO - Darrin Claussen, age 42, of LaOtto died on Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born in LaGrange on May 9, 1970, to Rick Claussen and Karen (Hite) Claussen.
Darrin graduated from Prairie Heights High School in 1988. He went on to attend General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993.
He worked for Aeroquip in Kendallville during college and for several years after graduation. After Aeroquip, Darrin worked for Tomco in Kendallville and then moved to D & W Fine Pack, formerly C & M Fine Pack, where he has served as the plant manager for the last decade.
He was a member of the Kendallville Elks Lodge #1194. Darrin was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, golfing, landscaping and spending time at the cabin he owned in Manistee, Michigan. He especially liked fishing with his friends and his dad. Darrin also enjoyed cooking and he made a mean lasagna! Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his parents, Rick and Karen Claussen of Wolcottville; two sisters, Dawn Whitestone of Winter Park, Florida, and Aimee and Trey Oldham of Anderson, Indiana; a brother; Seth Claussen of Winter Park, Florida; two nieces, Alison Bartels and Reagan Bartels; two nephews, Malachi Oldham and Aiden Oldham; aunts and uncles, Jeff and Ruth Claussen of Three Rivers, Michigan, Ron and Marietta Hite of Kendallville and Gary and Becky Hite of El Paso, Texas; a greatuncle, Jack Claussen of LaGrange; many cousins; and innumerable friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 9, 2012, from 3-7 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be Friday, August 10, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home. Officiating the funeral service will be Minister Brian Walter. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, Indiana. Preferred memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
