Debbie Riddle was the daughter of John T Riddle and Mary Moore of Wilkes. Debbie's date of birth is incorrect on death record and headstone stating 1813. Debbie was born in 1823. All census states 1823. Debbie is also on the school census in 1842 Wilkes county. She would not be on the school census if born in 1813. Debbie was the mistress of her sister's husband Irvin Reed. Debbie and Irvin were never married. Irvin Reed is buried at The Thornburg-Reed-Hayes Family Cemetery with his wife, Debbie's sister Elizabeth Riddle.

Debbie owned her own land and raised her children. Irvin Reed left a will naming his children by Debbie and left his children land.

People on find a grave and ancestry.com have been posting that Deb Riddle was living with Irvin Reed in 1850 census. This is posted by someone who is having trouble reading the census. Irvin was living with his wife Elizabeth. They have Nancy Holland living with them. Nancy Hollands mother Betsy Holland was living next door to Irvin. She is listed as head of her own household. Debbie was living next door to Elizabeth Holland, Debbie is listed in 1850 as head of her own household with children Leander and Mary. She was living on her own land 2 houses down from Irvin. Her land is documented at the Wilkes County Deed Office.
