Son of the late Floyd and Arceni King Spearman, he was preceded in death by a brother, Homer Spearman; and by three sisters, Marie Elrod, Betty Kelley and Ethel Spearman. He was survived by his wife, Dorothy Harbin Spearman; son, Gerald Spearman (Dianne); grandchildren, Teresa Calcina (Teddy), Tina Riley (Ronnie) and Tammy Stafford (Shane); great-grandchildren, Tara Coker (Greg), Kevin Stafford, Nikki Stafford, Wesley Riley, Meredith, Calcina, Claire Calcina and Cal Calccina; one great-great-granddaughter, Adriana Coker; one sister, Lois Burdette; and an extended family of relatives. He was retired from Liberty Life Insurance Company. He was a former City of Anderson Council member. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Anderson. He was a veteran of the United States Army (WWII, Bronze Star, Purple Heart). His funeral was held on October 7, 2005, with The Rev. Jerry Hayes officiating.
