Bohemian Royalty. She was the only daughter of Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV and Anna of Swidnica, his third of four wives. She was named in honor of paternal grandmother, Elisabeth of Bohemia. Her marriage was prearranged for the political purpose of a Bohemian-Austrian alliance, which secured the possession of Tyrol, an area in the Alps, for the Habsburg Empire. She married a 17-year-old groom, Albrecht III of the Habsburg Empire on March 19, 1366, which was also her eighth birthday. It was a double wedding ceremony with her widowed sister, Catherine of Bohemia, who was marrying for the second time; this time to Otto V, Duke of Bavaria. At the age of fifteen years old, she died childless. She was first buried in the Gaming Charterhouse to rest next to her husband's parents, in 1782 moved to the Parish Church of Gaming; however in 1985 her grave was discovered, and she was transferred back to her original site in the Charterhouse. She had a total of twelve siblings and half-siblings; some dying as infants. Her brother was Wenceslaus, who eventually became Emperor-elect of the Holy Roman Empire.
