Jonathan Lee Quarles, 43, of 386 Police Tower Road, Appomattox, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Passing with him was his wife of 18 years, Karen Elizabeth Canard Quarles, and his daughter, Emily. Jon was the son of Buford Atkinson Quarles and Dorothy Davis Quarles. Jon was a self-employed landscaper, an accomplished tennis player and power lifter as well as an animal lover.

In addition to his parents, left to cherish Jon's memory are his daughter, Meghan Pritchard and fiance' Austin Durrett of Appomattox, his sons Matthew Pritchard and girlfriend Carrington Watkins, of Appomattox, and Derrick Quarles and Jon's beloved granddaughter, Ella Korinne Quarles of Lynchburg, his twin brother Jeff Quarles of Amherst, his brothers Jim Quarles and Cary Quarles, a sister Melissa Stallard of Forest, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 25, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and following the service on Tuesday at Heritage Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Lanham officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Canard, Pritchard, and Quarles Family Memorial Fund. Check should be made out to Tharp Funeral Home and mailed to PO Box 15008, Lynchburg, VA 24502. Funds will be earmarked for designated charities by the family at a later date.
