He was born in Franklin County, VA, but had spent most of his life in the Callands Community.
Surviving are one daughter Mrs. J W Marlow of Callands and two sons James Acree Wells of Callands and John Morton Wells of Atlanta, GA, two brothers C W Wells of Callands and R L Wells of Martinsville, VA. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 9 great granchildren.
Funeral services were held at County Line Christian Church with the Reverend W C Clark officiating.
Burial followed in the family burial ground.
