Oscar Scherzberg passed away at his home five miles east of Grand Island last Wednesday night following a brief illness of pneumonia. He was born in Merrick county on February 20, 1891, and was 32 years, 2 months and 19 days of age at the time of his death. On May 3, 1911, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Elstermeier. To this union there were born two daughters and two sons. Besides his bereaved widow and children, his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scherzberg, one sister, Mrs. Ella Nietfeldt, of Grand Island, and four brothers, Arthur S. of Burwell, Carl of Loup City, Alred of Burwell and Walter, residing east of the city remain to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held Saturday from the home, Rev. Stitt officiating, and were largely attended. Members of the Sons of Hermann, of which he was a member, attended in a body and read the ritual of the order at the grave.
