Mildred May “May” Bunnell, daughter of Isaac Melanchon Bunnell and Sarah Sophronia Leonard, was born 30 April 1883 in Cherokee, Cherokee County, Iowa. (Iowa, County, Births, 1880-1935)

On 28 May 1904, May (age 21) married James Howell Heslar (age 18), son of James Elbridge Heslar and Madora "Dora" E. Peyton, in Buffalo, Dallas County, Missouri. ( Missouri, County Marriage, Naturalization, and Court Records, 1800-1991) May & James had one son, William Luther Heslar, born 1904. May & James divorced shortly after and William "Willie" was raised by his grandparents, Isaac and Sarah Bunnell.

Sometime before 1910, May married Wooster Valer Baugh, son of Frank M. Baugh & Mary Inman. Apparently they had no children.

May (age 30) died in Trenton, Missouri on 7 March 1914 from pneumonia. As reported in The Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune on 11 March 1914: “Mrs. J. D. England received a message Wednesday morning announcing the death of her sister, Mrs. Baugh, at her house in Trenton. Death was rather sudden and was due to pneumonia. Mrs. Baugh was formerly Miss May Bunnell. She resided in this city for a number of years and had a wide circle of friends here who will be grieved at the announcement of her death.”
