John and Elizabeth would later remove to Macon County, NC ca. 1835 where they would make their home in Cowee Township. Elizabeth's widowed mother, Ruth (Queen) Hamby Upton would come with them and remained in the home until her death.
John's 3-page, hand written Last Will & Testament, was signed and recorded on 10 Jan 1849. Witnessed by: J.K. Gray and Alfred Hall; Macon County Will Book 1.
The 1850-1880 US Federal Census Mortality Schedule indicates he died of Fever in Apr 1850.
