Funeral services were held Sunday December 23, for Adolph Reimers, pioneer McLean Country retired farmer, who died in a Bismarck hospital. Friday, December 21, The services, held in the Birka Lutheran church west of Washburn, were in charge of Rev. M.J. Sheldahl of Washburn.

Pallbearers were Searl and Freilo Peterson, Alex McDonald, Oscar Swanson, Sanfred Hanson, and Arthur Leidholm, all of Washburn.

Mr. Reimers had been a hospital patient for only two days before his death. He had been ill for several weeks before going to the hospital. During the last few weeks he was cared for at the home of Otto Reimers, in Washburn.

Mr. Reimers was born in Velje, Denmark, September 16, 1869, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Reimers. He came to the United States in 1886, and lived in Ogden, Iowa for sixteen years. In 1902 he came to McLean County and settled in the Basto community where he lived until retiring and moving to Washburn in 1948.

In 1896, while living in Ogden, he married Anna Jensen. She died in 1911. In 1914 he married Minnie Clausen, who died in 1937. Mr. Reimers attended the Birka Lutheran Church and for many years was a member of the school board in his community. A life-long Democrat, he was for 46 years a member of the Basto election board. After moving to Washburn he maintained his official residence in Basto and continued as a member of the election board.

Mr. Reimers leaves one daughter, Mrs. Julius Soderstrom (Agnes), Chicago, IL; and six sons, Harold (aka Leonard Johnson), Kirkland, IL; Holgar, Valley City; and Godtfred, Otto, Carl, and Ernest of Washburn. He also leaves a brother, William, of Billings, Montana, and 27 grandchildren. All of the children except Harold were here for the funeral. His brother, William was here, accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. Oscar Stromberg, Medicine Lake, Montana. There was a picture of Adolph, taken on the celebration of his 81st birthday, when he was entertained by his children and their families.
