ECKHART--Dale T. Lavin, 63, of Eckhart, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born on Sept. 7, 1937, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late George and Clara (Michaels) Lavin. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, George Jr., and Francis. Mr. Lavin was retired from Super Fresh Markets. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, the Moose Lodge #348, and was in the Army Reserves for six years. Surviving are his wife, Darlene (Bittner) Lavin; two sons, Thomas Lavin and wife Jada, Williamsport, and Terry Lavin and wife Danielle, Mount Savage; three grandchildren, Peyton, Cassidy and Teylor Lavin; one sister, Anna Mary Blank and husband Carl, Eckhart; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church on Monday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Father Jack Lombardi as celebrant. Interment will be in Eckhart Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Lavin, William Seibert, Robert Michaels, Steven Michaels, Carl Dennis Blank Sr., Ronald Fiddler, Harold Bittner and Jarold Bittner. Honorary pallbearers will be William Woods Jr., Zachary Woods, Carl Dennis Blank Jr. and Nathan Klink. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Michael's Church or St. Michael's School, 44 E. Main St., Frostburg, MD 21532.
