Visitation for James P. "Jim" MacDonald, 66, of Crest Hill, formerly of Kankakee, will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Kankakee. His nephew, Rev. Dave Straub, will officiate. Burial will be held at noon Monday in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Worth. Memorials may be made to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls. He died Wednesday (March 14, 2007) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee. Mr. MacDonald retired after 37 years of service from Cognis as a systems analyst. He had also been a chemist at General Mills. He was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Chicago, the son of Peter and Mary Gering MacDonald. He was a graduate of Quincy College and a former member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing in golf leagues and playing cards. Surviving are his wife, the former Eileen Straub, whom he married May 18, 1963, at St. Killian's Catholic Church, Chicago; one son, Jim MacDonald Jr. of Bradley; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gary Wesoloski of Naperville; five granddaughters; one sister, Marilyn MacDonald of Las Vegas; two brothers, George MacDonald of North Aurora, Thomas MacDonald of St. Charles; and several nieces and nephews.
