Jared G. Ball was my 3r great grandmother's half brother. He is the son of William Javin Ball (a polygamist) and Emeline "Dollie" Anderson. He was born on April 5, 1868 in Wilkes County, North Carolina and died on May 10, 1948 in Mendota, La Salle, Illinois. He has 14 half siblings: Ellen Ball, James Ball, Mary Ball, Harrison Ball, Jamima Ball, Levi Ball, and James Ball on his father's side. On his mother's side, he has Sarah Cook, William Cook, Harrison Cook, John Cook, Cordelia Cook, Rufus Cook, and Solomon Sevim Cook.

Jared (Jerry) Ball Passed Away Monday
Services to be conducted Friday afternoon at the Schwarz Funeral Home. Burial in Restland.

Jared Ball, better known as Jerry Ball in the community of Mendota, passed away at his home on First Street, Monday evening about six-thirty o'clock, following an illness of four weeks.

Mr. Ball was born in Wilkis Co., North Carolina, April 5, 1868, the son of Jabin and Emoline Ball. Early in life he married Katherine Counter of North Carolina. When he was twenty years of age he went to Utah, and spent most of his life as a farmer in that state. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Ball were five children, Tobias, Dell, Danis, Edward and Ada. Thirty-five years ago, after the death of his wife, Mr. Ball came to Mendota where he was employed by the railroads and later by the city of Mendota. February 16, 1933, he was married to Sotera B. Newsome of Monroe, Wisconsin. Mr. Ball was a member of the Mormon church which he joined as a young man in North Carolina.
Surviving Mr. Ball are his wife, Sotera; the following children: Tobias of Green River, Wyoming, Mrs. Denice Tippetts of Ogden, Utah, Edward Ball of Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. Ada Shelton of Ogden, Utah: two half brothers, Harris Cook of Statesville, North Carolina, and Jim Ball of Caseyville, North Carolina, also other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Schwarz Funeral Home with James T. Greer, the Mormon minister of Aurora, officiating, assisted by Rev. Truman W. Potter of the Mendota Methodist Church. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery.
