"William Alpha Barton died June 6 [1909] at his home in Schuyler Lake, after an illness of about ten days of peritonitis. He was the son of Hiram and Nancy Barton being the last survivor of a family of six children and had reached the age of seventy-two years and eight months. He had resided in the town of Exeter, for over thirty years. He was a staunch Democrat and was a man of prudence and integrity, honest in all his dealings.
