Mr. Kirk was born June 22, 1947, in Rowan County to Tony and Naomi Kesler Kirk of Richfield. A graduate of East Rowan High School and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, he was a member of Christiana Lutheran Church. He was a truck driver for Food Lion for 27 years. Mr. Kirk enjoyed fishing and being with his family.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Judy Russell Kirk, whom he married April 11, 1971; sons LTJG Clayton Russell Kirk of Anacortes, Wash., and Michael Todd Kirk of Salisbury; brothers Darrell "Pete" Kirk of Salisbury and Dean Kirk of Richfield; and grandchildren Wyatt Dale Kirk and Senora Azzah Lynn Duncan.
Service: The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christiana Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Carl Haynes, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by Rowan County Veterans Council. Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home from 7-9 tonight. Memorials: Christiana Lutheran Church, Elevator Fund, 6190 U.S. 52, Salisbury NC 28146.
