Funeral service will be held Monday, May 31, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home chapel, 2845 S. Union St., Opelousas, for Whitney Hunt Sr., age 94. Interment in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas. The Rev. Gene Tremie will conduct the service.

Whitney went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at 8 a.m. in Gonzales at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He worked diligently as a truck driver for many years.

Survivors include a son, Whitney J. Hunt Jr. and wife Juanita of Gonzales; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Jeansonne of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren, Michael A. Hunt and wife Patricia of Lafayette and Dennis M. Hunt of St. Amant; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Edmonia M. Hunt; his wife, Eve Pousson Hunt; and a sister, Effie H. Jeansonne.

A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Carlo Cannatello at 10 a.m. Monday. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday, May 31, 2004, from 8 a.m. until time of service. Visitation will be at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home located on the Old Sunset Highway.
